Koninginnedag or Queen's Day is a national holiday in the Netherlands April 30. Queen's Day celebrates the birthday of the former Queen of the Netherlands and is supposed to be a day of national unity and "togetherness/unity" (Dutch: saamhorigheid).'

Every city in The Netherlands will be full of people enjoying performances (music, dance, theatre), markets and the company of each other!

During this day, everyone is allowed to have their own little place in the streets of the centre to sell some old stuff they may have, like on a flea market. It is known as the "Vrijmarkt" (Freemarket). And of course there will be plenty of other events like concerts!

The party already begins the night before Queen's day (called "Nacht van Oranje") with concerts at 3 major locations in the city centre: Grote Markt, Vismarkt and Waagplein.

Make sure you come to the city centre on Queen's day and the night before (Queen's night) to enjoy the best day of the year!

DON'T FORGET TO WEAR ORANGE CLOTHES!
