Want to know more about life in the Netherlands through the eyes of a newcomer?

Check out our weekly blog by South African, Geoff Candy!

Show: Student houses

Linking to the article in the last edition of Hanze Mag about student rooms, we'll be talking to the Housing Office.

You can hear the entire interview here:

We've also talked to a few international students asking them how satisfied they are with their living surroundings. You can hear this report and more about the subject in our show tonight.

There are two big events planned this week and we have people coming from both events to talk about it. One is the Comedy Charity Event and the other is a fundraiser for the fight against AIDS / HIV.

Stranger Things for the comedy and we'll also have the latest news, more upcoming agenda and some music to put it all in a nice atmosphere!

LiveStream and Webcam will both be open for you at 6PM!

One hour less sleep!

Don't forget! Tonight at 2AM the clock will go forward one hour to 3AM! This means that you'll have one hour less sleeping time, unfortunately. Be sure not to miss any important appointments or class this Monday!

Spring!

Yeeeesss!! Spring has finally arrived!

This means that you're able to see all the nice places The Netherlands has to offer you! If you want a few good tips, listen to us tonight! We'll tell you all the interesting and worth-to-visit places!

Recently a report was published about the bad integration of international students in The Netherlands. We'll be calling Bart Rienties from the Universtity of Maastricht, author of this report. Coming to the studio is Bianca van der Molen from the Groninger Student Organisation to give her view and she will explain about their plan to create a 'student council'. More on that in the show!

Besides this we'll also look back on the International Week with someone from Albertus and we'll have a report from the DJ contest from last Saturday.

Beginning the show, as always, with the news and at the end we'll have Stranger Things Have Happened, followed by the Agenda (what's coming up).

Tune in at 106.6 FM at 6 PM tonight! Or use our LiveStream!

Titaantjes! What is Titaantjes?

I love to shop for books. It's my zen. Since my last week was a bit stressful, I managed to find myself in a bookstore on about four separate occasions and I kept seeing this black and white poster. My Dutch being of the utmost quality, I had no clue what it was. A Google search later and I found it was for the 75th Book Week - a celebration of Dutch literature that actually lasts ten days. This year's theme is Little Titans (Titaantjes) growing up with books.

All this "week" when you buy a Dutch book at participating stores, you get a free copy of this year's featured book, Joost Zwagerman's "Duel", written in 1918 about art in the Netherlands. It's only alloted 96 pages, so if you're learning Dutch, you can't pass up a free book to practice!
